Digital Geography Meeting on Thursday, 15.04.2021
Dear Geography-Students, dear Research Associates,
On Thursday, 15.04.2021, our next digital geography get-together will take place at 8 pm. At the “Stammtisch” we will spend time together, get to know each other better and network, play games, and brighten up the endless lockdown. This takes place monthly on the 3rd Thursday of each month.

As always, we will set up different break-out rooms of different sizes and with different themes, games and interests. We will also set up at least one English-speaking room to also address and network with our international students. You can switch back and forth between the rooms on your own. In this way, we would like to make it possible to exchange ideas in smaller groups or in pairs without the whole Zoom meeting listening.
There are two things you need to do to switch independently between the break-out rooms:
- you need to log into the meeting via a computer/laptop, as the function is not available for mobile devices such as tablets or mobile phones.
- you need the latest Zoom version on your PC. Here is the link if you still need to download it:
In the event that you can only participate in the Zoom meeting with a mobile device, for example, it is also possible for the meeting host to assign you to the respective rooms. In order to save us, but also you, a lot of work, it would be great if only the people who really need the “service” make use of it.
So grab your favourite drinks, a few snacks and sit down in front of the screen in a great mood. You can also help design the numerous break-out rooms yourself. So if you have your own game suggestions or other ideas for activities, grab a break-out room, a few fellow students and get started!
We look forward to seeing you on then!
Your student council (Fachschaft)
Strictly speaking, the “Fachschaft Geographie” is the name given to all students enrolled in the major subject of geography. Normally, however, the representatives elected by the students (“Fachschaftsvertretung”) of a degree programme are called this. The representatives, usually elected for one year in July, are responsible for organizing the student representation at GIUB.
These elected representatives are supported by numerous other geographers who, for example, organize events or represent our student interests in committees. If you would like to organize a trip, a party or something similar, or if you would like to stand up for better teaching or better equipment in the institute and faculty committees, please contact us or come and visit us.
