Welcome to the website of the Geography Student Council at the Department of Geography at the University of Bonn!
On this website, we give you an overview of who we are, what we do and what we offer you as a Student Council.

We are the Geography Student Council

The Student Council helps you with questions about your course, represents you in the university committees and looks after the first semester students every year. In short: If you don’t know what to do, come and talk to us!

Strictly speaking, “Fachschaft Geographie” (or “Geography Student Council”) refers to all Geography students at GIUB. Normally, however, this refers to students who are active in representing student interests at GIUB on a voluntary basis. All students at GIUB have this opportunity – you can join us, too!

As the Geography Student Council, we represent the interests of students in numerous committees at the university. We also organize many events, for example the Freshers’ Week and Freshers’ Trip, Geo-Parties, the summer festival or mulled wine evenings.

If you would also like to organize an event or want to stand up for better teaching and student interests in the university committees, please get in touch with us or come along to our public meetings!

During the lecture period, the Student Council meeting takes place every Tuesday at 08:00pm in the Roter Saal. If you just want to drop by or have a specific inquiry, you can visit us in the Student Council room (room U.003 in the basement) from Monday to Thursday from 12-1pm during the lecture period.

We look forward to seeing you!
